Web Page Review; Is it really good design?
1. The Wiki pages...
I know that we use one for class, but they are so widely shared. Its crazy because each post has hundreds of thousands of people that watch and edit/add to them everyday.
Since so many people can edit the pages, some of the information could be correct. Some could be a little off, and some could just completely be a load of lies. And people would chose to believe it unless they heard otherwise.
There is however, one thing that I do like. I use the site for a question when I am watching a TV show or something and I have a moment of "Ohhhh!!! What was he in!? I loved the movie! What was itttt?!" (Often referred to as "brain lock" "brain fart")
2. Myspace.com
Yes, I do have a page. But in comparison to some peoples pages, mine is flawless!
As for the background and layouts, there are users who like to create their own and use a image that they like. Well, they shouldn't do this unless they do it correctly. The image, if too small, could appear overly pixelated. *If "myspacers" have too many images on their pages, they may take too long to load. Clear your page before adding to it!
LOUD background with sparkle and other animations should be a BIG NO NO! They are distracting and can REALLY bother people to the point where they don't visit the page at all.
Music. Don't get me wrong, I LOVEEE music. But not when it is LOUD and trying to compete with other sounds coming off from your page.
Another thing, the Karaoke Contests... not fair! haha, I have a mac, and the program they use isn't compatible with macs.
And lastly, I feel bad to tear into this one as much as I have.... the lead singer of the band, is my Father, Kevin Benedict. (I run their facebook page. And wish they would let me take over this one.)
3. SturCrazie.com
The site, is just NOT visually appealing. Its a textured background (silver/gray in color).
Not updated often (which drives me NUTSSSS!)
The "calendar" is set to be as wide as the window the viewer has open (which means there is a lot of space between the date and location.)
There is a Music link that should play automatically when the page is visited, but it only works on PCs from what I have noticed. (I am a mac owner and it doesn't play)
As far as the links on the page.
Maps: they are just snapshots of mapquest maps (i believe)
Song List: Has not been updated in a WHILE. Bad layout, and on a bright color.
Pictures: Haven't been updated since February 25th! And poorly arranged, all in one cluster, and not at all edited/appealing.
Band Descriptions: A music note is Jammin' out and not in an appealing location. Along with text (which is not in a set area/width)
Members: Same situation as the band description. They have 1 image of each guy and a blurb about them.
So yeaaa, there is my rant.... again, I feel REALLY bad about the last one.
