Me and the Cloud… The Cloud and I… Wow, do we go back! I remember when I first learned how to use a computer and the internet. That first day of third or fourth grade, walking into the computer lab. Ahhh getting my first school account, user name and password for school, shortly followed by my first email address! I felt so special! I was like a kid in a candy store, so eager to explore everything! With my desire to explore and learn, my Uncle sent me a CD-Rom about the dangers of the internet and how to properly use it. Of course, just like reading the “Terms and Agreement” of opening a webpage, most people just hit “Accept”. Well, my parents sat down with me and we went through the whole thing!
Today, the Cloud and I have seen more and more of each other everyday! In high school, I had MySpace.com and did my homework/research on the internet. As well as some puzzles (http://www.jigzone.com) is the BOSS! As it came closer to graduation, I was looking at Colleges and one of the more informative ways is to browse online! I soon after graduating, opened a Facebook.com account where I communicate with my family from all over the US! As a Graphic Design major, I continue to use the Cloud more and more everyday! I wish I could say my addiction ended there, but it doesn’t. It almost becomes worse. Now that I am taking classes online, the first thing I do every morning is open Safari and my list of tabs; School, WordPress, Yahoo!, MySpace, and Facebook. When I go into school, the first class I check (not lying here) is Multimedia Apps & Tools. Each time I log on throughout the day, the same happens, every time.

AIM, Yahoo!Messenger, Skype, iChat, MSN and much much more! I am guilty of using instant messaging to contact my friends at all times. I am even one of those people who have messaged with my roommate from across the room or even right next to one another! My reason for using AIM/iChat is communication and asking for help. I message back and forth with professors and classmates – much like we do in our discussion boards just more instantly. Which can be a HUGE help! I like immediate feedback while working on projects and papers.
One thing I can tell you about my future, regardless of what it entails, I am afraid. I have no CLUE what is in store for life. Our technology has advanced so much since the first electronic devices. Think about it. Our cell phones now compared to the ones our parents had when they were 25 looked like cordless house phones! They were enormous! It’s only a matter of a few days/weeks/months before everything is controlled by technology. When we have no need for waitresses, and everyone will be putting their own orders in. If you’ve seen futuristic movies, then you know what is possible. If you can conceive an idea, then you can probably create it!
